GRIEF

"Grief is the most neglected and misunderstood experience, often by both the grievers and those around them" "Grief is the conflicting feelings caused by the end of or change in a familiar pattern of behavior" -John James and Russell Friedman, founders of The Grief Recovery Institute.

Anytime we lose someone to death, divorce, loss of a pet, a trauma they've endured or an addiction, we suffer overpowering feelings about the pain or guilt associated with that loss.

Just like Trauma, Grief changes the way the brain functions. Grieving is a part of trauma. Our lives were one thing before the loss, and became something different afterward. Partners and family members go through a grieving process when they are dealing with both trauma and addiction. They lose parts of their loved ones to the trauma or addiction. Their lives change, because their loved one is not there in the same capacity in their lives, the way they were at one time.   Both Trauma and Grief recovery take several small steps and choices made by the person affected, and their family support system to recover.

I would be honored to help you walk through your unresolved emotional pain, so you can heal from the grief that is holding you back from enjoying the full, happy life you desire. Once we resolve the pain or guilt that is keeping you stuck, you can get back to living the life you deserve.
